CLINTON — Jean M. Determan, age 80, of Clinton, died Friday, May 23, 2008, at the Alverno Health Care Facility. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Parish, St. Boniface Church. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Pape Funeral Home and Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. until the service hour at the church. Burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery. Jean was born on June 1, 1927, in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Clara (Portz) Ross. She graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1945. She married Joseph Determan on June 17, 1947, in Maquoketa. Jean was a clerk at the Schribner Hobby Shop in Clinton for over 30 years. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, Prince of Peace Auxiliary, St. Jude Circle and the St. Boniface Rosary Society. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Clinton. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and cooking. Jean is survived by her husband, Joseph of Clinton; sister-in-law, Barbara Ross of Cedar Rapids; and eleven nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald in 2007.Death date: May 23, 2008
