CAMANCHE — Tom McKenzie, 60, of Camanche, Iowa, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2008, at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory with Connie Beck officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, with military honors being conducted by Clinton AMVETS Post 28. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Daniel Thomas McKenzie was born on May 17, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Daniel Arthur and Joan Alice (Beckley) McKenzie. He married Jeanne E. Goddard on March 3, 1979, in Denver, Colorado. Tom was a 1966 graduate of Lindbergh High School in St. Louis, Missouri. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving from 1966-1970. He served for his country during the Vietnam conflict as a medic. During his time serving the country, Tom attended Inter-American University in Puerto Rico. After his honorable discharge, Tom attended Meramec Community College in St. Louis. He later graduated from Wichita State University in 1974. Tom was currently employed as a location manager for Phillips Service Corporation since 2001. Tom was an outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed the Mississippi River, boating with his family, riding his bike and hiking and camping in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. Tom could also be found playing billiards on Wednesday nights with his father-in-law, Roy, and his dear friend, Tom Wolf. Tom also enjoyed a good book, and he was heavily involved with the Douglas County Public Library serving as the president and chairman of the board of trustees while raising his family in Denver. Tom was always certain to be spending time with his family. Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanne, of Camanche; one son, Scott McKenzie and his fiancé, Brandi Romines, of Boulder, Colorado; three daughters, Abby McKenzie of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Susie and Malley Kate McKenzie at home; one brother, Tim (Sherry) McKenzie of Jackson, Missouri; his father-in-law, Roy Goddard of Camanche; and his uncle, Tom Beckley of San Antonio, Texas.
