CLINTON — David Patrick Beckwith, 42, of Clinton, went home to the Lord on February 27, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, with his loving family by his side. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Church of the Open Door with Pastor James Machen officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to the service time at the church on Saturday. Serving as pallbearers will be Charlie Cartee, Dave Hugunin, Kerry Kustes, Tim Pease, Keith Lilly, Mike Bos, and Dion Buckley. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Steve Smith and his nephews. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. He was born on November 7, 1965, to Dwight Edward and Shirley Jean (Easley) Beckwith. His life joys were fishing, camping with his family, golf, hunting and anything that had to do with the outdoors. He was also a great chef. He was educated in the Clinton Community School District. He was a member of the Church of the Open Door. He owned and operated Stump Cutters, a tree and stump removal service. He is survived by his soul mate of 25 years, Jan Cartee, of Clinton; one son, Jacob Dwight Beckwith at home; a stepson, Joshua Pease of Clinton; two sisters, Susan (Greg) Sieh of Indian Rock Beach, Florida, and Debbie (Greg) Soenksen of Camanche; two brothers, Barry of Memphis, Missouri, and Jeff (Vicki) Beckwith of Clinton; many nieces and nephews; also the extended family of Jan Cartee who loved and cared for him as a brother and uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and a special uncle, Jimmy Easley. Memorials can be made to the family.
