CLINTON — Larry Gene Davis, age 68 of Clinton, died Friday, February 8, 2008, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, February 11th, at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton, with the Rev. Michael Brewer officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Larry was born to Irene Mangelsen Davis and Samuel S. Davis in Clinton on March 8, 1939. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith. Larry attended the Clinton Public Schools, graduating from Clinton High School in 1957 and from Clinton Community Junior College in 1959. He attended the University of Iowa and received his Bachelor of Arts from Mount St. Clare College in 1983. Larry married Barbara Wiebold at St. Mary’s Rectory in Clinton on February 8, 1964. Larry worked in the research lab at Clinton Corn Processing for 24 years and from 1985 in the analytical lab at Sethness Products, retiring in 2004. He was a CPR instructor trainer, a 13-gallon blood donor and an active member of the American Chemical Society. Larry enjoyed stamp collecting, golfing and reading. Larry is survived by his wife Barbara; three daughters, Mary of La Grange Park, IL; Nancy Capion of Des Moines, IA; and Diane Lathrop of Davenport; two grandsons, Kyle Davis and Matthew Lathrop. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.Death Date: Feb. 8, 2008
