DEWITT — Mr. Harold E. Ruggeberg, 95, DeWitt, Iowa, died Wednesday afternoon, January 30, 2008, at Westwing Place, DeWitt. Harold Edward Ruggeberg was born October 8, 1912, in Welton, Iowa, to Roy and Amelia (Schwartz) Ruggeberg. Harold married Lois Allison, September 10, 1936, in rural Delmar, Iowa. Harold farmed for many years in Clinton County. He was also employed as a heavy equipment operator for Clinton County and the State of Iowa Highway Commissions. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. Harold enjoyed ball room dancing, pitching horse shoes and was a connoisseur of good food. Surviving are his loving wife of over 71 years, Lois; children and their spouses, Carol Jean and William Smith and Judith Ione and John DeTellem, DeWitt, Patricia Ann and Dean Traver, Mount Vernon, Iowa, and Alan Harold and Monica Ruggeberg, DeWitt; grandchildren, Terry (Linda) Aldinger, Glenn (Peggy) Aldinger, Timothy Aldinger, Rebecca (Bob) Buhler, Nancy (Justin) Birks, Jeffrey Traver, Julie Traver, Brian (Anne) Traver, Greg (Kari) Traver, Tavia (Edgar) Vital and Troy Ruggeberg; great-grandchildren, Elijah (Lauren) Aldinger, Adam (Andrea) Aldinger, Eric (Valeri) Aldinger Brianna Aldinger, Lukas Buhler, Owen Buhler, Miranda Buhler, Dylan McDevitt, Allison Letcher, Matt Birks, Alexandra Birks, Joshua Humphrey, Brandon Lefebure, Evan Lefebure and Justin Lefebure, Faith Ann Traver and Chloe Traver; great-great-grandchildren, Ezekiel, Ethan, Havanna and Titus Aldinger; brothers, Ken Ruggeberg and Everett Ruggeberg; sisters, Vinetta Farber, DeWitt, and Margaret Pestka, Clinton, Iowa; a stepsister, Dorothy Carson, Maquoketa; other relatives and friends. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, infant sisters, Opal and Bernetta, a sister, Thelma Braet, and brothers, Vernon, Darrell and Leo. Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2008. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2008, in Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. The Rev. Timothy Carr and the Rev. Garland Gotoski officiating.
