The Clinton Herald Wednesday August 2, 1905 p. 1 Clinton friends of Mrs. William Hufman, for many years a resident of this city, will be grieved to learn of her death which occurred at Baraboo, Wis., at 11:15 o'clock this morning. The remains are to be brought to this city for interment. Pending their arrival her no funeral arrangements have been made. These will probably be announced tomorrow. The Clinton Herald Friday August 4, 1905 p. 8 The remains of the late Mrs. William H. Hufman reached Clinton this afternoon from Baraboo, Wis., where the death of the former well known Clinton woman occurred, and the funeral was held at 3 o'clock, with services at the home of C.W. Hufman, 714 Sixth street, and interment in Springdale cemetery. Mrs. Hufman, nee Alice Simmonds, was born in Cuba, New York, on November 1, 1845, and thus was 60 years of age. She spent her youth in the east, and 37 years ago was married to Mr. Hufman, who, with two sons and a daughter, survive her. They are Charles H. Hufman of this city, W.H. Hufman of Baraboo, and Mrs. Frank Hatch of Iowa City. Mr. and Mrs. Hufman resided in Clinton about 26 years, while Mr. Hufman ran out of this city on the Northwestern as fireman and engineer. They built a handsome home on the corner of Sixth street and Tenth avenue, where the resided for several years. Ten years ago the family removed to Boone, where, until he was sent to the Madison division of the Northwestern as master mechanic, with headquarters in Baraboo, Mr. Hufman was general foreman of the company. Mrs. Hufman was a prominent member of the Clinton Congregational church for many years. The news of her death was heard with deep regret by her many Clinton friends.
