CLINTON — James O. Brown, age 72, of Clinton, died Saturday Jan. 19, 2008, at Mercy North Medical Center. According to his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held Wednesday 10:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Clinton. A gathering of friends and family will be held after the service in the parish hall. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials may be given to the church. Jim was born on Oct. 19, 1935, in Keosauqua, IA, the son of Oscar and Bessie (Steffey) Brown. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1954. He served with the Iowa National Guard. Jim married Carolyn Nelson on May 17, 1969, in Clinton. He worked for Clinton Corn Processing as an electrician for over 25 years, with Electric Service of Clinton, and was a custodian for Northeast High School. He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church and the Eagles Club. He enjoyed bowling, cooking, gardening and the farming community. Jim is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Clinton; two sons, James (Taina) Brown of Blue Grass, IA, and Barney Brown of Chicago, IL; and a daughter, Renee; three grandchildren, Jim, Jennifer and Jody; and a brother, Maynard Brown of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Raymond, and his stepfather, Leo M. Burkert.Death date: Jan. 19, 2008
