CLINTON — Lois Lorraine Sander, 80, of Clinton, died Thursday, January 17, 2008, at her home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2008, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Sheriff Rick Lincoln and members of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department. Honorary pallbearers are Don (Gus) Flood, Larry Greenwalt, Roger Heilig, Art Laufenberg, Larry May, Jack Morgan, Gary Mulholland, Pete Postma, Dave Rederer and Bob Wilke. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Lois Dusenbery was born on March 26, 1927, in Hardin, Montana, the daughter of Loren and Nell (Van Winkle) Dusenbery. She married Clifford J. Sander on October 6, 1945; he later died February 1972. Lois was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and also a graduate of the Des Moines Business School. Lois was employed with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department for 24 years as the sheriff’s secretary under Sheriffs Bruhn, Mulholland, Galusha and Kavanaugh. Lois retired in 1992. After her retirement, she worked part time under current Sheriff Lincoln as a female transport escort until 2007. Lois enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Lois devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and Clinton River Kings. She enjoyed card club, cross stitching and playing with her dog, Maddie. Lois is survived by three sons, Greg Sander of Clinton, Dennis (Sandy) Sander of Clinton and Scott (Paula) Sander of Cedar Rapids; 9 grandchildren, Clay (Kathy) Sander, Shannon (Jeff) Sander-Welzien, Nate Sander (Mary, fiancee), Erin Sander, Kali Sander, Jordan Sander (Linsey, fiancee), Ryan Sander, Matthew Sander and David Sander; and 3 great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Wagoner and Owen and Ella Sander-Welzien. Lois is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and one sister. The family request that memorials be made to the family or Mercy Hospice.
