ALMA, Neb. — Timothy John Fitzgerald was born in Clinton, Iowa, July 25, 1938, to Edward John and Emily Marie Hayes Fitzgerald. He died Tuesday, December 25, 2007, in Kearney, Nebraska. There was a rosary service at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Alma, Nebraska, on Thursday. There was a memorial service at the church today. Inurnment will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska, today. The Rev. John Birkel officiated the services. There was no visitation. Tim’s request was to be directly cremated after his death. Banta-Torrey Funeral Home, Alma, NE, was in charge of arrangements.Tim attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church and school through the seventh grade in Clinton, Iowa. His family moved to Winona, Minnesota, where he attended Cotter High School through the 11th grade. He then returned to Clinton, Iowa, where he graduated in 1957.On August 29, 1959, Tim was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Jane Kramer at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clinton, Iowa. They were blessed with five children, Kimberly Ann, Michael John, Todd Allen, Daniel Edward and Kristine Marie. Tim was employed with DairyPak, the Champion Packaging Co., and later at the Clinton Herald Newspaper.The family moved to Trumbull, Nebraska, in 1976 and on to Hastings, Nebraska, in 1995. He was employed at Great Plains Packaging until his retirement due to a disabling stroke. In 1996, Tim and Nancy moved to Alma, Nebraska. Tim was preceded in death by his father in 1963; his mother in 2000; and one son, Michael John Fitzgerald in 1984.He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving and devoted wife, Nancy, of their home at 512 James St., in Alma; two daughters, Kim Grothen and her husband, Phil, of Juniata, Nebraska, and Kris Osborne and her husband, Pike, of Alma; two sons, Todd Fitzgerald and his wife, Kristy, of Papillion, Nebraska, and Dan Fitzgerald and his wife, Jackie, of Kenesaw, Nebraska; one sister, Patricia Ronsman and her husband, Jerry, of Round Lake, Illinois; grandchildren, Ronald DeVries of Omaha, Nebraska, Jessica and Christian Peterson of Beatrice, Nebraska, Jamie DeVries of Juniata, Declan, Payton and Pike II Osborne of Alma, Kyley Osborn of Sturgis, South Dakota, Kenadi and Mikala Fitzgerald of Papillion, Hayley Fitzgerald and Kelly Allison of Kenesaw; other relatives and many friends.Death date: Dec. 25, 2007
