KEWANEE — Ruth C. Mather, 86, of Kewanee, died at 11:16 p.m., Friday, December 14, 2007, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 22 at Zion Lutheran Church in Kewanee. The Rev. Susan Kent will officiate. Memorials may be directed to the family. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.Ruth was born June 10, 1921, in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Chris and Ella (Ingwersen) Nissen. She married Allan Mather May 22, 1955, in Clinton, IA. He survives; as do a son, Bruce Mather of Carpentersville, IL; a daughter, Barbara Jacobsen of Bettendorf, IA; three grandchildren, Joel, Jeremy and Jess; two brothers, Marvin Nissen of Clinton, IA, and Dick Nissen of New Bedford, MA; and a sister, Doris Brinkman of Fulton, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in infancy, George.Ruth graduated in 1939 from Clinton High School in Clinton, IA. She had been employed as a bus driver for Wethersfield School for 25 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kewanee. Her hobbies included playing cards, golfing and bowling. She had been secretary of the bowling leagues and was founding member of the Friday night mixed league. She also was inducted into the Kewanee Bowling Hall of Fame. Ruth was a devoted, compassionate and giving individual who enjoyed her family and friends and always made them her first priority.
