CHARLOTTE — Orin R. Holt, 76, of Charlotte, Iowa, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at the Community Care in Charlotte. Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 17th at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Ill. The Pape Funeral Home, Clinton is assisting the family.Orin was born on March 25, 1931 in Clinton, the son of Bruce and Anna (Brownell) Holt. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, serving with the Polar Bear Regiment, 31st Infantry, and 7th Division and receiving two bronze stars. He had worked at the Smoke Shoppe in Clinton, the Omar Bakery in Low Moor, and retired from the maintenance department at Clinton Community School System. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. His wish for everyone is to have a Merry Christmas, since this was his favorite time of the year. Orin is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Pamela (Jack) Pratt of Moline, Ill. and Barbara Chartier of Joshua Tree, Calif.; a brother, Bruce Holt of Kansas City, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, two brothers, and three sisters. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
