Stanford, Eugene F.

RACINE, Wis. — Eugene F. Stanford, age 88, passed away Monday November 19, 2007, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Racine. Eugene was born in Brookfield, MO, October 8, 1919, son of the late Paul and Mary (nee: Riley) Stanford.During World War II, he served in the United States Army, 11th Airborne Paratroopers Division. On January 4, 1946, Eugene was united in marriage to June M. Schultz in Holland, MI. He was employed with Twin Disc in Racine for twenty one years until his retirement in 1983. Gene was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and bird watching. Above all, it was spending time with his family and his grandchildren that Gene loved the most. He will be dearly missed.Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, June; daughter, Patricia Ann (Roland) Denman of Lake Geneva; grandchildren, Rick Jensen, Wade (Eva) Jensen, Rachel (Tad) Ballantyne, Paula Jensen; three great-grandchildren, Drew and Ian Ballantyne and Derrick LaFrance; brothers, Jack Stanford and Allen Stanford, both of Holland, MI; sister-in-law, Virginia Stanford of Clinton, IA; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Gene was also preceded in death by his brother, Paul Stanford Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., Racine, Friday, November 23, 2007, 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. John D. Aiello officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Memorials to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church have been suggested.Death date: Nov. 19, 2007
