Johnsen age 89, of Janesville, Wisconsin formerly of Hanover, Illinois died Sunday, November 18, 2007, at the Rock Haven Nursing Facility in Janesville. Cremation rites will be accorded and interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover, Illinois at a later date.
Gladys was born on April 1, 1918, the daughter of William and Bessie (Leindecker) Wetter, in Lancaster, Wisconsin. She was a graduate Galena High School, Class of 1935. Gladys married Joseph Petitgoue on June 22, 1935 in Galena, Illinois. Joseph died on March 26, 1974 in Hanover, Illinois. She later married Edward Johnsen on March 26, 1977 in Hanover, Illinois. Edward died on March 18, 1988 in Galena, Illinois.
Gladys was a Secretary for the Jo Daviess Service Company for seventeen years retiring in 1977. She was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover, where she was involved in the St. Anne’s Society and the St. John’s Quilting Group for twenty-one years. She was a past member of the Hanover VFW Women’s Auxilary. Gladys loved quilting, crocheting, knitting and reading.
Gladys will be dearly missed by one daughter, Yvonne Campbell of Janesville, Wisconsin; one son in-law, James Kehl of Freeport, Illinois; six grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; eleven great great-grandchildren; one special nephew, Tyler (Karen) Folks of Hanover; and many other nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Joseph and Edward; one daughter, Jeanine Kehl; one brother, Robert Wetter; and two sisters, Dorothy Boles and Maxine Folks.
