Bruins, Helen E.

PERU, Ill. — Helen E. Bruins, 73, of 624 26th Street, Peru, Ill., and formerly of Morrison, Ill., died Sunday, November 4, 2007, at the Liberty Village Retirement Community, Peru, Ill.Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 8, 2007, at Morrison Christian Reformed Church, Morrison, Ill. Pastor Rita Wolf, pastor of Brethren in Christ Church, will be officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service Thursday, November 8, 2007, at Morrison Christian Reformed Church. The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of services. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, Ill.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

She was born October 22, 1934, in Fulton, Ill., to John K. and Janet G. Kettler Wiebenga. She was educated at Fulton Christian Grade School and was a graduate of Fulton High School. She married Norman D. Bruins on April 9, 1954, in Fulton, Ill. He died on January 7, 2006. She was employed in the Morrison High School cafeteria for many years. She was a member of Morrison Christian Reformed Church and the church’s Ladies Aid Society. She was an avid walker.

Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca (Trent) Jacobs of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sons, John (Bonnie) Bruins of Coleta, Ill., and Brad (Josanne) Bruins of Peru, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Ian (Lisa) Bruins, Seth Bruins, Audra (Gabe) Fairchild; Philip Bruins, Paul Bruins, Alexandria and Elisheva Bruins; Joseph Jacobs, Rachael Jacobs, Mara Jacobs and Emily Jacobs; two great-grandchildren, Ava Bruins and Ruby Bruins; one sister, Barbara Prins of Kentwood, MI; one brother, David (Barbara) Wiebenga of Byron Center, MI; and one brother-in-law, Doug (Glenda) Kloet of Kenosha, WI.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Thomas Bruins; and two sisters, Mildred Kloet and Carol Wiebenga.
