Metz, Roger Paul

Roger Paul Metz, age 36, of Lanark, Illinois, died Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford, Illinois. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll, Illinois with Reverend Dave Davies of the Albany United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2007 at the Funeral Home.

Roger was born July 29, 1971 in Savanna, Illinois, the son of John and June (Shippert) Metz. He is a graduate of the Mt. Carroll High School with the Class of 1989. On July 27, 2007, Roger married Melissa Weems. Roger lived for his children. He loved farming and re-building Chevy trucks. He had a knack for mechanical work, enjoyed landscaping with large boulders that he would find while farming, and liked spending time with friends.

Roger will be dearly missed by his wife, Melissa Metz of Lanark; a daughter, Taylor Metz, and son, Tyler Metz, both of Lanark; two step-daughters, Samantha and Kaitlyn Myers, both of Lanark; his mother, June Metz of Mt. Carroll; his brother, Don (Lisa) Metz of Savanna; and three sisters, Shirley (James) Weirsema of Mt. Carroll, Ellen (Tim) Adolph of Chadwick and Sandra (Tom) Imel of Chadwick.

Roger is preceded in death by his father and all of his grandparents.
