Sanger, Marie L.

Marie L. Sanger age 99 of Clinton, died Monday Oct. 22, 2007 at the Alverno Care Facility. According to her wishes, her body was donated to the University of Iowa Anatomical Department in Iowa City. There will be no visitation or funeral services. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery at a later date. The Pape Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Marie was born on Nov. 1, 1907 in Lyons, IA, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Goehring) Sanger. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1925. She received her teaching certificate in 1927 in Cedar Falls, IA. She was a school teacher in Andover from 1927-1929, Lyons School District 1930-1942, and the Clinton School District from 1942-1972, when she retired. After her retirement, she traveled extensively to Canada, Russia, Mexico, Europe, and according to Marie, every state in the U.S. including Hawaii and Alaska. She was a member of the Community Congregational Church UCC.

Marie is survived by her cousins, including Henry and Marlene Luckritz of Clinton and Leona Geffers of Grand Mound.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
