LYNDON, Ill. — Ronald G. Port, 72, of 509 6th Avenue N., Lyndon, IL, died Monday at Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2007, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. The Rev. Jon W. Nienhuis, pastor of Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at the Morrison Chapel Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL.

He was born August 1, 1935, in Morrison, IL, to Ren and Jennie (Bush) Port. He married Janet E. Pidde on June 3, 1955, in Clinton, IA. She survives. He was educated in the Lyndon, IL Grade and High schools. He was engaged in farming in the rural Lyndon, IL area. He also was employed by the former Chicago and Northwestern Railroad as an engineer until retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church-Morrison, IL and Whiteside County Farm Bureau. He collected and restored antique tractors. He was also an amateur boat builder.

Survivors include his wife, Janet; one daughter, Rhonda (Mrs. Larry) Marshang of Lyndon, IL; one son, Gary (Glynis) Port of Lyndon, IL; five grandsons, Quinn and Logan Marshang, Heath Port, Lucas Port, and Clayton (Danielle) Port; and one sister, Nellie (Mrs. Marvin) Zaagman of Morrison, IL.
