Johnson, Richard C. "Dick"

Richard C. “Dick” Johnson, age 71 of Fulton, Il, formerly of Camanche, died Sunday Oct. 14, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Thursday 10:00 A.M. at the Church of the Visitation in Camanche. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton and from 9:00 A.M. until the service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Camanche. Casket bearers will be his grandchildren Nicholas, Nathaniel, Marshall, and Benjamin Johnson and his nephews Doug, David, Brian, Richard, and Darwin Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew, Matt, and Joe Johnson.

Dick was born on May 19, 1936 in Clinton, IA, the son of Clarence and Lillian (Schlemme) Johnson. He graduated from Miles High School in 1954. He married Jean Ann Hilgendorf on Sept. 17, 1955 in Clinton. Dick worked at EI DuPont as an operator, retiring in 1985. He also worked at Armstrong Supply Co. in delivery. He was a member of the Church of the Visitation. He enjoyed woodworking and model trains. He was an avid sports fan, following the St. Louis Cardinals, Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeyes.

Dick is survived by his wife, Jean Ann of Fulton, IL; four sons, Mark (Debra) Johnson of Ankeny, IA, Michael (Jean) Johnson of West Des Moines, IA, Tim (Suzi) Johnson of Downers Grove, IL, and Tom (Elizabeth) Johnson of Allen, TX; 10 grandchildren, Rachel, Nicholas, Benjamin and Matthew of Ankeny, Stephanie and Nathaniel of West Des Moines, Matt and Joe of Downers Grove, IL, Morgan and Marshall of Allen, TX; and two brothers, Robert (Verana) Johnson of Teeds Grove, IA and Dave (Mary Lou) Johnson of Clinton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jack, and a sister, Doris.

Memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Association or the building fund at the Church of the Visitation.
