SERVICES: 11 a.m. Friday at Mueller Memorial Chapel, Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque. Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 JFK Road, Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.

DUBUQUE — Dorothy E. Sutter, 96, of Dubuque and formerly of Clinton, died Tuesday at Finley Hospital. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque.

She was born May 29, 1911, in Dubuque to John and Elizabeth Bauer Sutter. She was educated in Dubuque schools. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Dubuque in 1933 and master’s degree from the University of Minnesota in 1951. She also attended the University of Iowa, University of Northern Iowa and University of Chicago. She taught for 40 years in Iowa including Center Grove, Greeley, Elkader, DeWitt and Clinton where she taught at Washington Junior High School for 30 years. She was a lifetime member of the NEA and ISEA. She was past president of the AAUW, Clinton branch, member and past president of the Wa-tan-ye Club of Clinton and past president of St. Faith’s Guild and Women’s Board of Grace Episcopal Church. She was a lifetime member of the Clinton Humane Society and past president of the auxiliary. She was past president of the Clinton Symphony guild, member of the Clinton Women’s Club and alumni board of the University of Dubuque.

Survivors include two nieces; and one great-niece and one great-nephew.

Memorials may be given to Luther Manor, Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
