SERVICES: Private family services will be held. Law-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.SAVANNA, Ill. — Carol K. Kaergard, 87, of Savanna and formerly of Elmhurst, Ill., died Sunday at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. She was born Sept. 6, 1920, to Charles K. and Caroline S. Bouland Todd. On Jan. 15, 1942, she married Arthur W. Kaergard in Joliet, Ill. He died in 1999. She graduated from Austin Community High School, Chicago. She was a homemaker. In her earlier years, she worked as a secretary with the Boston Store in Chicago’s Loop. After her children were grown, she worked as a real estate agent. She was a past member of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, Elmhurst. She served as an election judge in Elmhurst for 20 years and was a past member of the Homemaker’s Extension, Dupage County. She also was a member of the Red Hat Club.Survivors include one daughter, Arline Bauer of Savanna; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.A memorial fund has been established in her name with Heartland Pet Welfare, 2400 Wacker Road, Savanna, IL 61074.She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter and one grandchild.
