Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. today at Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa. SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Deacon Bob Head officiating. SHELLSBURG — Cale Joseph Hughes, 24, of Shellsburg and formerly of Monmouth, Iowa, died Friday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa. He was born Nov. 27, 1982, in Maquoketa to Barry and Mona Keeney Hughes.He received his early education at Lost Nation School and graduated from Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids in 2001. He worked with Construction Millwrights Inc., of Marion. He was a member of Millwright Union 2158.Survivors include his father, Barry Hughes of Shellsburg; one sister, Nicole (Cory) Rushford of Wyoming; grandparents, Mick and Gin Hughes of Delmar, Carol Ripple, Jay and Donna Keeney and Helen Keeney, all of Maquoketa; three nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
