The Clinton Herald Wednesday march 3, 1971 p. 8 Dr. Frank O. Kershner, 91, of 600 Argyle Ct., retired Clinton physician and surgeon, died Tuesday evening in Jane Lamb Hospital. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Bragonier-Fay chapel with Rev. Clifford Ramsdale, pastor, and Dr. H.J. Rendall, of Morrison, Ill., officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the chapel. Honorary pallbearers will be A.B. Oakleaf, Fred Weimert, Marvin Matthiesen, W.J. Wegener, Oliver Walsh, Francis Dunlavey, Jesse Dameron, A.W. Poffenberger, E.C. Halbach, Bruce Townsend, Dr. Warren H. Foster, Dr. C.D. Grant, Dr. John Stewart and Dr. R.E. Dwyer. Dr. Kershner was born May 28, 1879, in Paola, Kan., son of John and Hannah Gibbons Kershner. He was graduated from the University of Kansas, and from the Northwestern University medical school in 1905. After postgraduate study at the University of Vienna in Vienna, Austria, Dr. Kershner began practice as a physician and surgeon in Clinton in 1907 and retired in 1946. Dr. Kershner was married Feb. 19, 1912, in Clinton to Miss Helena Moeszinger. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1962. Dr. Kershner was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Clinton County and Iowa State Medical societies and Rotary Club. He was a former director of Clinton National Bank. He was a 50-year member of Emulation lodge, 255, A.F. and A.M., Clinton Consistory, Kaaba Shrine and Delta Council, 23, Royal Arch Masons. Dr. Kershner is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. John B. (Elizabeth) Van Allen and Mrs. R.E. (Frances) Bickelhaupt, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters.
