The DeWitt Observer Thursday July 29, 1943 p. 2 Funeral service for Charles B. Troy of Clinton, brother of Peter Troy of DeWitt, were conducted Tuesday morning at nine o'clock in St. Patrick's church, Clinton with solemn requiem high mass celebrated by the Rev. J.F. Finefield. The Rev. Robert Taylor served as deacon; the Rev. Frank Griffin as sub-deacon, and the Rev. J.C. Dolan, master of ceremonies. Pallbearers were M.J. Clarke, T.I. McLane, William Reed, Walter McConahy, Alfonse Claeys, Leonard Hynes, M.J. Kearney, and Charles Hunter. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery, DeWitt. Mr. Troy died Saturday afternoon July 24, 1943 at his home 756 Fourth Ave. South. Charles B. Troy was born April 13, 1874 on a farm near Delmar. He attended the public schools and St. Joseph's parochial school in DeWitt. While attending St. Ambrose college, Davenport, he was stricken with a rare disease, multiple sclerosis and has been an invalid for the past 40 years. Surviving are his sisters, Mrs. Helen and Miss Josephine Troy of Clinton and two brothers, Robert of Davenport and Peter of DeWitt. Among those attending the services from away were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Troy, DeWitt; Helen and Jack Troy, Mrs. Mae Tanksley and Mrs. Caroline Bank, all of Chicago; Raymond Troy of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Troy and Helen and Mr. and Mrs. George Zieke all of Davenport.
