SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Murray Hanson officiating. Graveside service at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Savanna Township Cemetery.
ROCKFORD, Ill. — Marie Krahn Schmidt, 86, of Rockford and formerly of Savanna, Ill., died Thursday at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 3, 1920, in Savanna to Harry and Mata Hanson Krahn. She married Harold H. Schmidt on June 19, 1948, in Savanna. He died in 1998.
She graduated from Northern Illinois University with a master’s degree in elementary education.
She taught at Freedom Township Country School, Savanna Chestnut Park School and Rockford public schools as a homebound teacher.
Survivors include one daughter, Jean White of Rockford; one son, John Schmidt of Rockford; one brother, John Krahn of Thomson, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Wishes Foundation in care of Third Presbyterian Church, 1221 Custer Ave., Rockford, IL 61103.
