Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

ASH FLAT, Ark. — Lela Marie Behrens, 97, of Ash Flat and formerly of Clinton, died Tuesday at Ash Flat Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

She was born March 1, 1909, in Carlinville, Ill., to Clarence E. and Rosella Young Bryant. She married William P. “Bill” Behrens on Feb. 28, 1930, in Carlinville.

She attended local schools and graduated from Carlinville High School in 1926.

She worked with the Candy Land Cafe and Ice Cream Parlor, Clinton. She then worked with Montgomery Ward where she was a sales associate for a number of years before retiring in 1962.

She was a 50-year member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge 65 and founder of the Queen of Clubs Card Club.

Survivors include one son, Garrett L. Behrens of Cherokee Village, Ark.; one daughter, Connie L. Mosher of Cherokee Village; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge 65.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and husband.
