Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mike Jones, pastor of York Baptist Church, officiating.
SAVANNA, Ill. — Charles D. Pittman, 79, of Savanna, died Saturday.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
He was born Feb. 8, 1927, in Mayfield, Ky., to Irene Pittman and Charles Smith. He married Terrill Tropp in Savanna and later married Rena Andersen in Savanna.
He attended Savanna schools.
He joined the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.
He worked in security at Savanna Army Depot for 35 years. He also sold real estate.
He was active in the Savanna Army Depot Union and was a counselor at a boy’s camp. He also had an airplane pilot’s license.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Michael (Lorri) Pittman of Villapark, Calif., and Jeffrey (Lesia) Pittman of Jonesboro, Ark.; two daughters, Cindy (Jerry) Railey of Knoxville, Tenn., and Kristi (Daniel) DeMarr of Davenport; two stepsons, Charles (Holly) Gergin of Belton, Mo., and Aydogan (Deneen) Gergin of Winsor, Mo.; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and one stepbrother, Charles Smith of Mexico Beach, Fla.
