Donald L. Wanamaker

Donald L. Wanamaker, age 84 of Clinton, Iowa died Saturday November 18, 2006 at home.

Don was born May 22, 1922 in Estherville, Iowa, the son of Nellie Mae and Glen Logan Wanamaker. He served in the Army during WWII as a Staff Sergeant, and was a proud alumnus of University of Iowa.

Joanne Rapp and he were married on October 9, 1948 at Waterloo, Nebraska. They were blessed with three children, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Don worked for Swift & Co. for 35 years in Des Moines, Iowa; San Francisco, California; Cleveland, Ohio, and Clinton, Iowa. Interests included the Masonic Lodge for 50 years where he is member #93 in Clinton, Iowa. He was a deacon at First Presbyterian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Bonnie Lou Wanamaker Moeller, and his daughter-in-law, Linda Sue Snider Wanamaker.

Following his wishes, his body was deeded to the University of Iowa for medical research.

A celebration of the life of Don Wanamaker will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Friday November 25, 2006 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be before the service from 12:30 to 1:00.

Memorials may be made to First United Presbyterian Church or Mercy Medical Center Dialysis.
