LeRoy L. Mensinger, 80, of Camanche, died Monday, November 13, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton.

Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Friday, November 17, 2006 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home with Ruth Ann Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Camanche VFW. Serving as pallbearers will be Lonnie Walters, Jack Fahlbeck, Reed Kolsrud, Bob Wise, Gary Snodgrass, and LeRoy Mensinger, II. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Joel and Jason Kolsrud, Geoff Cadogan, David Allum, Barret Snodgrass, and Tim Schoenfelder. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home with an 8:00pm Blue Lodge Masonic service.

LeRoy Lester Mensinger was born on March 20, 1926 in Eden Township, Iowa, the son of Henry and Cora (McKenrick) Mensinger. He married his true love, Beverly J. Brown on May 6, 1946 in Portsmouth, Virginia.

He attended Byron, Illinois schools. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy aboard the USS Randolph from February 1944 until honorably discharged in March 1947. Leroy & Bev returned to the Camanche area to reside and raise their family.

He was employed at DuPont in the chemical treatment department for 37 years until retiring in 1985. He was also a commercial fisherman for 52 years. He & Bev enjoyed wintering in Texas and fishing in the Gulf. He especially enjoyed large family gatherings. He took great pride in his garden, lawn and neatly trimmed trees. He could be frequently seen on the mighty Mississippi pole & line fishing with various family members.

He was a member and Past Master of Camanche Masonic Lodge #60, a member of Emmulation Masonic Lodge #255 where he had served as secretary. He was a district lecturer in Iowa; a member of Clinton Scottish Rite Bodies, and York Rite Masonic Bodies, KAABA Shrine, Hi-12, the Clinton Moose Lodge #363, the Clinton AMVETS, Post #28, and the Camanche VFW.

He was survived by his wife, Beverly; five daughters: Cheryle (Reed) Kolsrud of Camanche, Iowa, Alice Cadogan-Allum of Brigham, Utah, Beverly (Gary) Snodgrass of Los Fresnos, Texas, April (Bob) Wise of Camanche, Iowa, Coralea Schoenfelder of Burke, South Dakota; and one son LeRoy (Patty) Mensinger, II. of Camanche, Iowa; 22 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren; one sister Ida Callahan of Camanche, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to the family.
