Vallie Lee Powell

Vallie Lee Powell, 67, of Clinton died Wednesday at her home. Funeral Services are being held Tuesday, November 14th, at 2:00 PM at the Church of the Open Door. Visitation will be held Monday, November l3th at the Church of the Open Door from 1:00-3:00 PM and then from 5:00-8:00 PM. Lemke Funeral Home is handling all arrangements. Pallbearers are Mathew Powell, Thomas Burns, Scott and Josh Judge, Jason Jaeger, and Tim Pease. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leonard Pease, Matthew Clark, Frank Feldt, Jerry Smith, Louie Meder, and Rick Stamp. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery.

Vallie was born August 22, 1939 to Martin and Lorene (Mills) Kriebs in Griffith, IN. She graduated from Clinton High in 1957. She married Robert M. Powell on August 21, 1954. She worked for Mercy Hospital and she also worked for Target as a switchboard operator. She was a member of Church of the Open Door, and Women of the Moose.

Survivors include: two daughters Susan (Gary) Creecy of Clinton; and Diane (Michael) Burns of Cedar Rapids; one son Robert (Penny) Powell of Clinton; three sisters Patricia (Walt) Hudson of Coats, NC; Sylvia Bartles of Clinton; and Judy (Ron) Nissen of Illinois; one brother Ted (Judy) Townsend of Phoenix, AZ; fourteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, two brothers, and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the family.
