John R. Brown, about 62, died suddenly this morning in his Park street home. A freight conductor on the Iowa division of the Milwaukee railroad, he did not appear to be in critical condition when he returned from his run last night. Mr. Brown had been in failing health for some time.
Funeral rites will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. John's Catholic church. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery.
He was born in Jackson county Iowa, the son of Frank and Margaret Brown. He had been in the employ of the Milwaukee road for over 40 years. He and Miss Maude McGrath were united in marriage and she preceded him in death last December. They lived in Savanna all their married life.
Survivors are one daughter, Miss Mary Brown of Savanna; two sisters, Miss Joanna Brown of billings, Mont., and Mrs. A.H. Dempewolf of Glendive, Mont., and two brothers, Bernard Brown of Clinton and Frank of Phoenix, Ariz., a twin brother of the deceased.
