Ray R. Curtis

Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ruth Ann Scott officiating.

DEWITT — Ray R. Curtis, 78, of DeWitt, died Friday at home.

Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Austin Curtis, Joshua Curtis, Drew Curtis, Ross Curtis, Alan Curtis and Jim Fitzpatrick.

He was born May 22, 1928, in Donahue to Roy and Leila Rohwer Curtis. He married Tulane German on Sept. 19, 1953, in Northville, Mich.

He served in the Army during the Korean War.

The couple farmed at rural DeWitt for many years. He also sold real estate and had a fuel truck route in his early years.

He was past president of the National Belgian Draft Horse Corp. of America, he judged and showed Belgian Draft horse and hitches all over the country and raised and raced standard bred harness horses.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Danny (Julie) of Eldridge, and Larry (Cary) of DeWitt; five grandchildren; two sisters, Helen (Robert) Miller, of Dixon, Iowa, and Margaret (George) Claeys, of Eldridge; three brothers, Ben (Pat) Curtis, of Long Grove, Robert (Dorothy) Curtis, of Donahue, and David (Marcia) Curtis, of Princeton, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death were his parents, two brothers nd a sister.
