Visitation: 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus, with the Rev. Sarah Kretzmann officiating.

CALAMUS — Jan William Christensen, 71, of Calamus, died Friday at his home.

Interment will be at Our Savior’s Cemetery, rural Calamus.

Pallbearers will be Daryl Henning, Richard Christensen, Bob Christensen, Doug Wiese, Jon Knabel, Dan Schwien, Dale Meier and Troy Eden.

Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Henning, Norman Bousselot, Kevin Davisson, Dwain Goettsch, Stan Leeper, Yogi Braet, Oscar Shelton, Fritz Hinrichsen, Frank Bickel and Bob Huetter.

He was born July 31, 1935, in Clinton, to Lester and Lorraine Holstein Christensen. He married Diane Krukow July 20, 1958, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt.

He was a 1953 graduate of Calamus High School.

Jan farmed in rural Calamus all his life. He also drove a school bus for the Calamus School District.

He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, rural Calamus. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus. He also was active in Clinton County 4-H and junior baseball and was a charter member of the Calamus Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; children Kim (Scott) Steffens of DeWitt and Yale (Brenda) and Chad (Colette) Christensen, both of Calamus; six grandchildren; and a sister, Sharon (Bob) Braunschweig of Donahue.
