KEARNEY, Joseph Edward

Obituary; Clinton Herald p. 10 Saturday July 17, 1965.
Joseph Edward Kearney was born Nov. 10, 1943, in Clinton, the son of Vincent J. and Evelyn Lynch Kearney. He attended grade schools in Fayetteville, Ark., and St. Patrick's School in Clinton.
A 1962 graduate of Clinton High School, he was a junior in the college of business administration at the University of Iowa. He was affiliated with Epsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi fraternity. He was a member of St. Patrick's church.
Surviving are his parents; two brothers, 1st Lt. Michael Kearney, stationed with the Army in Frankfurt, Germany, and Raymond at home; and paternal grandmother, Mrs. M.J. Kearney of Davenport. One brother preceded him in death.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete awaiting word of the arrival of Lt. Kearney from Germany. Friends may call at the Delaney funeral home after 1 p.m. Sunday.
Kearney had been a summer employee at the plant. He had completed his junior year last spring at the University of Iowa, and planned to return to school. He had worked at the plant three previous summers.
Young Kearney had been an outstanding athlete at Clinton High School, where he graduated in 1962. He was a member of the 1962 Iowa champion swimming team, and also a member of the golf team that placed second in the state.
He had planned to leave Clinton Aug. 1 to spend six months with his brother, Mike, who is stationed with the U.S. Army at Frankfurt, Germany. He had also planned to visit several European countries before returning to the University of Iowa.
