Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Skelley, of Union Presbyterian Church, Lost Nation, officiating.

LOST NATION — Harvey L. Roden, 101, of Lost Nation, died Friday at Wheatland Manor.

Burial will be at Lost Nation Cemetery.

He was born July 11, 2006, at the family farm in rural Lost Nation, to Otto Roden and Matilda Adrian Roden. He married Thelma H. Cain on Aug. 26, 1933 in Lyons. She died in 1997.

He was educated in rural Clinton County schools.

He farmed for many years.

He was a member of Elwood United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Harbour Masonic Lodge AF&AM of Lost Nation. He helped start Lost Nation Telephone Company and was a charter member of the board of directors of the Lost Nation Consumer Co-Operatives. He also served for 25 years as secretary for the Farmers Co-op Elevator Company in Lost Nation.

Survivors include his children, Dolores (Harold) Weets of Lost Nation, Donna (Robert) Wolter of Marion and Barbara (George) Pratt of Bettendorf; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund has been established.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, four sisters and one brother.
