Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Hamilton, pastor of Savanna Community United Church of Christ, officiating.

SAVANNA, Ill. — Victor J. “Vic” Dauphin, 91, of Savanna, died Sunday at Mercy Medical Center–Clinton.

Burial will be in Savanna Township Cemetery.

He was born Oct. 13, 1914, in Savanna to Victor E. and Mattie Palmer Dauphin. He married Vera Ruth Gillespie on Aug. 18, 1939, in Hanover, Ill. She died in 1995.

He attended Union Grove Country School, rural Savanna.

He farmed near Savanna. He also worked eight years with the Savanna Township Road Commissioner and eight years with Savanna School District as grounds- keeper.

He was a member of Savanna Community United Church of Christ and Savanna Moose Lodge since 1966.

Survivors include two sons, Howard (Diane) Dauphin of Mount Carroll, Ill., and Victor E. Dauphin of Savanna; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lessetta (Joe) Seitz and Dorothy Malone, both of Savanna, and Hazel (Harold) Brinkmeier of Mount Carroll; and two brothers, Fred (Geraldine) Dauphin and Palmer (Margaret) Dauphin, both of Savanna.

Memorials may be given in his name to Mercy Hospice, Clinton.

He preceded in death by his wife, one grandchild, two brothers and both parents.
