SAVANNA, Ill. — Pet Stevens, 91, formerly of Savanna, died Sunday.
She was born March 22, 1915, in Savanna to Thomas P. and Bula Krell Madsen. She married Daune F. Stevens on July 24, 1937, in Savanna. He died in 2001.
She graduated from Savanna High School in 1933.
She was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church, Savanna. She taught Sunday school many years and was a choir member for more than 50 years. She was a longtime member of the Evangelism Committee, as well as United Methodist Women and a member of the Esther Circle. When her children were school age, she was active in the PTA. She participated in Chapter CE of PEO, the Wednesday Study Club and the U & I Club.
She worked for eight years in the Savanna High School cafeteria.
She lived between her daughter in California and her son in Illinois.
Survivors include one daughter, Janell (Richard) Mesic of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; one son, Robert (Joyce) Stevens of Palatine, Ill.; four grandchildren; and one nephew.
