Joseph L. Laurent

Joseph L. Laurent, 78, of Clinton, Iowa, died Monday, July 3, 2006, at Bluff Terrace Nursing Facility in Clinton. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 5th, from 3:30 - 8:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. A private family funeral service will be held Thursday. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery, Camanche. Memorials may be directed to Genesis Hospice.

Joseph L. Laurent was born September 19, 1927, in Clinton, the son of Harry L. and Marie (Rebelsky) Laurent. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Joseph married Marian Shafer on December 12, 1945, in Clinton. He worked for 37 years at Clinton Corn Processing. After retiring in 1983, Joseph and Marian moved to their home on Lake Delhi for 18 years, returning to Clinton in 2000. He was active in Boyscouts, Jr. Baseball, and Bowling. He was a former member of the American Legion in Delhi, and for years was a board member at Clinco.

Joseph is survived by his wife Marian of Clinton, his son Rick (Louise) Laurent of Clinton, his daughter Margo Schuster of Marion, Iowa; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Mildred Hood and Leona Flack, and one granddaughter.
