Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at DeWitt Evangelical Free Church, DeWitt.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Casey Danley officiating.

DEWITT — Jerry W. Nees, 55, of DeWitt, died Tuesday at home.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be Bill Bauman, Gary Friedman, Bernie Lindsey, Jerry McGranahan, Todd Spain, Gale Radcliff, Dick Wichert, Andy Anderson and Jim Tillis.

Schultz Funeral Service, DeWitt, is handling the arrangements.

He was born Oct. 7, 1950, in Monmouth, Ill., to Harold and Eileen Hendricks Nees. He married Cindy Smith on Aug. 16, 1975, in Fulton, Ill.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era.

He was a carpenter with Beirne Builders in Davenport.

He was a founding member of DeWitt Evangelical Free Church.

Survivors include his wife; children, Mitchell (Carrie) Nees, Katie Nees, Allison Nees and Hailey Nees; a sister, Jean (Rod) Tulin; and his mother- and father-in-law, Anna Marie and Harold Smith.

A memorial fund in his name has been established.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and his parents.
