Mary Ellen Decker, 64, of rural Erie died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Heartland Healthcare Center, Moline. A celebration of life service will be 10:00 am Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church, Geneseo. Rev. John Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be from 2:30 - 4:30 pm and 5:30 - 7:30 pm Friday at Vandemore Funeral Home LTD, Geneseo. Memorials may be left to Grace United Methodist Church Missions or neurological health research.
Mary Ellen was born on March 14, 1942 in Clinton, IA the daughter of Randall H. and Helen V. (Fox) Tenley. She attended Morrison and Prophetstown schools, graduating in 1960 and then graduated from Rockford Business College. Mary Ellen married A. Dean Decker on January 25, 1964 in Prophetstown, IL. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Geneseo; where she served 27 years as chancel choir director. She also directed youth choirs in the church and was active in area Christian women’s organizations. She loved her family and music.
Survivors include her husband, Dean; two sons and spouses, Brian D. and Linda Decker, Camanche, IA, Brett D. and Kirsten Decker, Geneseo; 8 grandchildren; one brother and spouse, David R. and Janet Tenley, Eldon, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
