Rose Brandenburg

Rose M. Brandenburg, 63, of Charlotte, died Thursday at Genesis Medical Center, east campus, Davenport.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Carson and Son Funeral and Cre-mation Services, Maquoketa. Cremation rites will be accorded and the scattering of ashes will take place at a later date.

She was born April 1, 1942, in Jackson County to Robert and Caroline Ethel Krabbenhoft Barten. She married Stephen Brandenburg on Sept. 6, 1958, in Maquoketa.

She attended school in Delmar.

She received her GED.

She was an adult GED night-class instructor for the Eastern Iowa Community College District for 13 years. In 1983, she started working with DAC Inc., Maquoketa, teaching a basic living skills class for more than 15 years. She also made wedding dresses, bridesmaid gowns and prom dresses.

She was a member of a sewing club. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Spragueville, and later First Lutheran Church, Maquoketa.

Survivors include her husband; children, Mrs. Stephanie (Neville) Stamp of Goose Lake, Arthur (Jody) Brandenburg of Delmar, Merton (Shannon) Brandenburg of Maquoketa, Mrs. Beth (Mike) Streeper of Onslow, Joe (Laurie) Brandenburg of Maquoketa, Mrs. Susan (P.J.) O’Meara of Welton, Caroline Casel of Maquoketa and Walter (Melissa) Brandenburg of Monmouth, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four brothers, Roy (Vi) Barten of Grand Rapids, Minn., Ronald (Marsha) Barten of Calamus, Lloyd (Sandy) Barten of Miles and Loren “Jake” (Jan) Barten of Clinton; and five sisters, Lola Wilkins of Clinton, Mrs. Lila (Bill) Dunning of Tamms, Ill., Mrs. Rhonda (Tom) Tietjens of Teeds Grove, Mrs. Rojean (Gary) Behrens of Miles and Mrs. Lynette (Jack) Fosdick of Savanna, Ill.

A Rose M. Brandenburg Memorial Fund has been established.
