LOW MOOR RESIDENT DIES IN HOSPITAL
Frank Slapnicka, 78, a resident of the Low Moor vicinity for many years, died at 2 p.m. yesterday (18 Feb 1946) in Jane Lamb Hospital, Clinton.
The body is in the McGinnis Funeral home in DeWitt, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, the Rev. D. D. Whitmore, pastor of Low Moor Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be In Elmwood cemetery, DeWitt.
Mr. Slapnicka was born Nov. 11, 1867, in Prague, Bohemia. He came to the United States with his parents when six months old. The family settled in western Iowa, later coming to Jackson county.
He was married March 24, 1897 at Malone, to Bernice Louise Pelham, who died March I0, 1912. After his marriage he farmed west of Low Moor until 1917 when he retired, and had lived in the town since.
Five children survive, Mrs. William H. Lampe, Charlotte, Mrs. Lloyd Smith, Low Moor, Maynard, Grand Mound, and Marion and Lawrence, both of Clinton; a sister, Mrs. Roy Potter, Forest Grove, Ore., and nine grandchildren. Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
