RAILWAY WAR – At the annual meeting of stockholders of the river roads held at Dubuque last week, a struggle ensued between the eastern bondholders represented by J. J. Joy, of Chicago, and Judge Grant, of Davenport, and the western stockholders, for the possession of the offices. Finally, by the production of 40,000 shares of stock in the C., D. & M., J. A. Rhomberg was enabled to throw the balance of power into hands of the western men and the following board of management was elected:

President – J. A. Rhomberg
Vice President – J. D. Bush
Secretary – Peter Kiene Jr.
Treasurer – C. H. Booth
General Superintendent – C. Harris
Assistant Superintendent – S. A. Wolcott
General Freight and Ticket Agent – C. V. McKinley
Directors – J. A. Rhomberg, J. D. Bush, J. H. Lull, Peter Kiene, D. Rhomberg, A. Heeb, Wm. Andrew, of Dubuque; D. B. Bascom, of Lansing, Iowa; and R. Meuth, of Buena Vista.

In the Directors of the C. C. & D. the name of G. W. Lewis is substituted for Wm. Andrew.

The eastern men were exceedingly puzzled how Rhomberg got a hold of 55,000 extra shares, as it was not known that any additional stock had been issued, but he declined to explain and declared the above officers duty elected, though under a decided protest from the eastern representatives. The bondholders, it is believed, will investigate the origin and validity of those extra shares of stock, but in the meantime the river roads remains in the control of the Dubuque capitalist, though they are in the hands of a receiver.
