Ice Harvest
~
Cummings & Co., ice dealers of Clinton, told an Age reporter yesterday that they were going to commence the ice harvest as soon as it becomes thicker, desiring to put up some 5,000 tons for local consumption. This would cause them to employ some thirty or forty men, and should the ice crop in the south fail much more than that will be stored and shipped. Last season made the ice harvest a very important factor in employing labor and it is hoped for the sake of local laborers that the south will continue to have warm weather.

Peter Jensen, who has been with the firm for years is getting his machinery and building in readiness for a busy time, and a valuable man they find.
