Killer of Clinton Officer Recovering

Eugene Moore, thug and gunman, who was shot by police officer Koch of Clinton in that city several days ago after being himself fatally wounded by the bandit, is said to be recovering in the Jane Lambe hospital where he was taken after the pistol duel. Moore is charged with first degree murder and Clinton County Attorney Matteson is combing Moore's former hangouts for evidence that will aid toward sending him to the gallows.

Moore lived in Maquoketa for a short time and while here sold stock food and remedies.
