TO George W. Shidy the above named defendant:

SIR: You will please take notice that there will be on file in the office of the Clerk of Court of Clinton County, Iowa, on the 19th of December, AD 1860, the petition of Jeannie. Shidy, praying that the bonds of matrimony existing between you may be dissolved. And unless you appear and answer thereto on the first day of the next term of said Court, to be held in DeWitt on the first Monday in March, AD 1861, a decree will be rendered against you as prayed.
