The shooting of old Mr. Wessel at Teeds Grove, New Year’s eve, is the exciting theme. The general opinion is that the shooting was done by some one who had no motive except a malicious one. He was not killed for plunder, as it was generally known that he seldom carried more than a few dollars in his pocket. Clinton county seems to be noted of late, for mysterious murders. The officers are said to be on the lookout, and will be likely to be able to fix the deed on the right party after some further investigations. Hanging is too quick and too easy a death for such a vile assassin.
