Clinton County Memorial Hall association in Session recently elected W. H. Easterly as chairman to succeed the late B. F. Mattison, and added Mr. Easterly and G. W. Barker to the committee. The members also passed resolutions on the death of two members, A. R. Hart and B. F. Mattison. These are:
IN MEMORIAM(This article begins with a memorial to Benjamin F. Mattison which is posted separately.)
Adam R. Hart
Whereas, the Great Commander has called our brother and comrade, Adam R. Hart, to the Grand Army over there, and whereas we shall sadly miss his presence both as a soldier and citizen and in this brief Memorial we do not deem it out of place to give the war record of a veteran soldier of the Union.
Adam R. Hart, Sergt. Co. G., 44th Regiment Illinois Infantry, was a charter member of Gen. N. B. Baker Post., G.A.R., died December 17th, 1925, aged 84 years. Be it therefore resolved by the Clinton County Soldier's Memorial Hall association, that in the passing of our Comrade A. R. Hart we lose an upright, true citizen and soldier, that in the walks of civic life we shall miss one who was ever at the forefront for the good of the community, that as a soldier he will be missed by the Veterans of all wars and especially by the survivors of the war of the Rebellion.
Resolved, that these resolutions be spread upon the minutes and a copy be presented to the surviving family and given the press for publication.
W. H. Easterly, Chairman
Attest. B. P.Baldwin, Secretary
