A Bad Collison
A bad runaway which lowered Mr. E. A. Wadleigh to the ground and smashed two buggies, caused an exciting scene on Camanche Avenue near the horse car switch yesterday afternoon. Mr. J. R. Bathers’ sons drove out from the greenhouse with a small batch of plants, and by cause unknown the horses became frightened and dashed madly out onto Camanche Avenue just in time to catch Mr. Wadleigh’s carriage and take one wheel off and badly damage the vehicle otherwise. Fortunately, Mr. Wadleigh escaped with nothing more serious than a severe shaking up. Street Commissioner Peck removed the damaged vehicle from the highway to Bryant’s blacksmith shop. Mr. Bathers’ wagon was broken and his load of plants were scattered along the avenue, entailing quite a loss.
