The Clinton Age, Clinton, Iowa, January 21, 1881
An alarm of fire Monday night was caused by the burning of a small shed on the premises of John Woolheater, in South Clinton. The alarm was given by C. Lamb & Sons’ night watchman over the telephone wires, but as the fire was beyond the reach of hydrants, the department did not turn out. The shed and most of its contents were destroyed, entailing a loss of about $200. There was no insurance.
