The Clinton Age, Clinton, Iowa, January 24, 1879

Frank Madison, a tramp, was caught last Friday stealing a $15 overcoat from a rack in front of Stauber’s. Pursuit was taken and the thief was overhauled. He was arraigned before a Justice and pleaded guilty. He will sit around the base burner in the county jail for 30 days. Stauber said he is willing to sell his overcoats below cost, but cannot give them away outright.
